I live in sunny Adelaide; South Australia, with my beautiful wife Caron and our three sons; one’s married, one’s eligible to be married (ladies take note), and youngest who will be eligible in the next 5 – 10 years.
Being multi-skilled, I have successfully owned businesses in the Hospitality, IT & Networking, Vegetation Management & Finance Sector as well as having operated in Sales and Service industries.
One thing that’s always played on my mind and has a huge bearing on what I do is hearing this song on the radio; ‘Cats in the Cradle‘
When you comin’ home dad?
I don’t know when, but we’ll get together then son,
You know we’ll have a good time then…
My son turned ten just the other day,
he said, “Thanks for the ball, Dad, come on let’s play.
Can you teach me to throw”,
I said “Not today, I got a lot to do“,
He said, “That’s OK”
Well that’s not OK. The time for living is NOW, ’cause NOW is all we really have.
‘Start with the end in mind’
What do we really want our lives to look like, what are those things that are non negotiable to us?
The Internet’s become the ‘great equalizer’.
It’s shrunk the world as we know it, allowing anyone from anywhere and from all walks of life to conduct and grow viable businesses.
This is both great, as it allows all of us to create a fantastic lifestyle, and bad at the same time, as there are many charlatans and spin doctors promoting & promising easy riches.
Turn-Key, push button, done for you, no effort on your part. You’ve probable heard it all before.
It’s a bit like the fitness gimmicks that promise abs or weight-loss in a few minutes a day without any real effort on your part.
It’s just not going to happen.
While the Internet does open up a level playing field, it does take work and effort to build a business.
Most, if not all, of the information for building a business is freely available if you’re willing to search and dig for it. I will be sharing with you some tools and ideas that will accelerate the time required.
